A year of commitment, a year of learning, and a look ahead to keep getting better.

I took a big moment to look back this morning at my first blog post. I immediately began thinking about improvements. One thing I have learned is that being a good Programmer is not something you can buy yourself into. I swear this to you. It is 100% self discipline and determination. Digging through code and gluing the pieces together yourself and then going back to look at tutorials and documentation to figure out why what you just did works or doesn't work. The most precedent thing to improve right now is this actual blog and my online presence. This blog is a failure. I have a GB or two of source files on my computer comprised of things that I have learned over the past year and none of it is here. I did not stick true to sharing what I learned and have kept all the enthusiasm to myself. Blogging is important. I still believe this. You need to write down your thoughts and keep your inner curriculum organized. Plus, the more you put online the bigger chance someone is going to see it and help you correct your mistakes or even better, become inspired by what you have done. This is highly evident in the Ruby community. Ruby is the language and environment that I have immersed myself in for months now and there isn't a single post on this blog or anywhere else. I am eager to fix that. Gems that I want to learn to use in  my projects, creating gems myself, Rails applications, techniques, and just plain interesting things that I have found. I need to share these things. I have such a large list of vast topics that I find great resources on that I created YARP. Yet Another Resource Page. Something like Ruby Central or Ember Watch. It is called DevOp Central. It is a Ruby on Rails website and is in the finalized stage or production. As I said a year has gone by and I don't have a website or an assortment of project available for all to see. I know this isn't a complete testament of my abilities but it is still something I said I would stick with but got too caught up with work or just felt too lazy. So this is the true new direction. Dev Op Central will be comprised of resources and tutorials from the Linux/SysAdmin - Software Development worlds.
